Sunnydale Farm
Sunnydale Farm aims to be an equal opportunities employer, welcoming employees from diverse ethnic, cultural and religious backgrounds. We also actively seek to recruit both male and female employees to ensure that the children and young people experience the benefits of mixed gender roles. Turnaround will not employ any care worker who is not a minimum of 22 years of age or four years older than the oldest young person.
Unit Manager
Joining Turnaround in 2003 as a care worker, Lucy’s previous experience was in sales and administration and this experience has been of tremendous benefit to the company. In August 2004 Lucy completed her NVQ Level 3 in Children and Young People and was promoted to Senior Care Worker in May 2005. Since then Lucy has embraced all aspects of care, working in a highly effective, child-focused team. In 2006 Lucy was promoted to Team Leader. Lucy has an engaging manner that helps to make children and young people, along colleagues feel supported and valued. She completed her NVQ Level 4 in July 2007 and was invited to take on the position of Unit Manager in April 2008.
Sunnydale Team
Sunnydale Farm’s employee team consists of 18-21 residential care workers, split into three teams. Each team has a team leader who holds an NVQ 3 Hsc C&YP and will work towards their level 4 in post. Each team has a Shift leader who works in support of the team leader and will hold their NVQ 3. There are also four or five care workers in each team who hold or are working towards their NVQ 3 in their first year of employment. The teams can be increased when necessary by care workers employed to cross between Sunnydale and our other unit Orchard Farm, responding to the needs of the particular children and young people. These workers are often qualified to lead outdoor activities.
Turnaround is committed to ‘investors in people’ and believes that exceptional care requires exceptional staff. All our staff are highly motivated and committed to making a difference to the lives of the children and young people they care for.
The key to our success lies with these dedicated staff teams, who recognise the value of effective team work, positive relationships and continuous professional development. All the staff are reflective practitioners and constantly strive to exceed the National minimum standards required for residential children’s homes.
