Respite Care

Turnaround have vast experience of working in partnership with foster families, other care homes and local authorities to provide respite care for children and young people. We maintain open lines of communication with other providers/carers to ensure positive, smooth transitions and consistency of care.

Turnaround can offer something different when traditional care environments are not working. We use an innovative approach, using the outdoors and adventure therapy to bring about successful outcomes.

Our high staffing ratios enable us to offer a challenging and stimulating provision where young people can take part in a full programme of experiential learning. This includes adventure, educational and vocational activities.

Turnaround has an independent school, on site, education is focussed on project based learning, using the accredited schemes of AQA and ASDAN. We can offer short courses through the ASDAN Bronze Award and AQA unit awards, both are nationally recognised schemes and accredit young people to enable a sense of achievement.

Our highly experienced teacher will draw up an individual education plan in consultation with the young person and carers. Our aim is for continuous learning to take place that reflects individual interests. If the young person is here for a holiday period the focus will be on outdoor and leisure activities.

Respite care is flexible affording each young person the opportunity to take a break from mainstream or traditional care, trying new challenges and developing skills. We can also offer regular respite by arrangement, providing a secure and known environment for young people.
